UAE secures most visa exemptions on list of most powerful passports 2018

The UAE, which is currently in the 21st spot of most powerful passports in the world released by Henley & Partners, is considered as the fastest climber on the list.

The country advanced 38 places in the last ten years. It is the country that secured the most visa exemptions for its citizens than any other country in the world in 2018.

Meanwhile, Japan replaced Singapore as the world’s strongest passport after it recently gained visa-free access to Myanmar. It’s residents can now travel to 190 visa-free destinations out of a possible 218.

Singapore is now only second with 189 visa-free destinations, followed by Germany, France, South Korea (188); and Denmark, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Spain (187).

The Philippine passport dropped three spots from 72nd to 75th. It is also the seventh strongest passport out of 11 countries in Southeast Asia.

The 2018 Henley Passport Index surveyed 199 passports of 277 countries, territories, and micro-states. It stated that it “looked into the travel freedom of countries based on an authoritative database of travel information.”

“The index is innovating how travel freedom is measured and mapped, making it easier for individuals to understand where exactly they lie on the spectrum of global mobility,” added. Henley Global, the global citizenship and residence advisory firm which created the index.
