New batch of OFW amnesty grantees from Dubai arrives in PH

The sixth batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who availed of the amnesty program offered by the UAE government has arrived in the Philippines on Monday, September 24.

The latest batch is composed of more than 100 OFWs, all of whom were from Dubai, reported GMA News.

They were welcomed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) where they were given the Php5,000 financial assistance from the Philippine government.

Earlier, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn Quintana said that the Philippine government shouldered the exit permits and other penalties of the OFWs as well as the airline ticket on their way home. Transportation allowance was also given to OFWs upon their arrival in Manila to be used for their traveling expenses to their respective provinces.

The Philippine government continues to urge OFWs in the UAE with overstaying or absconding cases to avail of the amnesty program through the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai.

The program runs until October 31.
