DUBAI: Some 72,000 tech-savvy Filipinos are expected to gravitate to Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) next week for their much-awaited gadgets galore, having saved money over the past months to indulge in smartphones, laptops, and TV for themselves and loved ones back home at discounted prices.
“More than 35,000 products ranging from the latest gadgets across smartphones, wearables and cameras to laptops, HBWs, consoles and in-home entertainment among others,” said Avinash Shanbhogue, director for exhibitions, DWTC Exhibitions and Events.
He said approximately 40% of the event’s total footfall are Filipinos. Each Gitex annual edition attract over 180,000 customers, officials said.
Shanbhogue said highlights of this year’s Gitex will include the following:
• Tips & Tricks sessions, where one learns how to switch from Android to iOS, take better pictures with his smartphone & more.
• Ask the Techsperts, where customers can check with the experts on what is the best product to buy.
• “Unboxing Area” – watch live unboxing videos of new products
• Shopper Drone Zone, where one can learn how to fly a drone
Shanbhogue said there will likewise be daily video game tournaments showcasing Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo with the latest video games.
