A 38-year old woman had to undergo a delicate operation at the Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah had after she accidentally swallowed her own denture.
The doctors in the hospital’s endoscopy section removed the denture which had settled in the middle part of the her oesophagus, reports The Gulf Today.
Sources have explained that the Filipina forgot to remove her dentures as she went to sleep. She woke up feeling thirsty and realized that she had already swallowed her own dentures after feeling pain and discomfort as she drank water.
She then immediately headed to a hospital where ENT doctors attempted to remove the denture but were unsuccessful in doing so. An x-ray from the same hospital has showed that the denture was stuck in the middle of her oesophagus after which the patient was immediately transferred to the Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital to where the doctors were successful in using an endoscope to carefully remove the dentures.
