An SUV ramming into a water tanker caused heavy traffic in Al Dhafra area in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 21.
The driver of the SUV, a 20-year-old Emirati resident, sustained minor injuries from the incident.
According to Lt. Col. Suhail Sayah Al Mazrouei, Deputy Director of Traffic Department at Al Dhafra Area, Traffic and Patrols Department, Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Department, preliminary investigations attributed the causes of the incident to the driver’s distraction, leading to swerving off the lane.
The Abu Dhabi Police posted on Instagram a report of the incident, showing the extinguishing of a fire that ensued from the crash.
Once they were notified that an accident had taken place near Madinat Zayed, a team was deployed to clear the scene of the accident.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Mazrouei reminded drivers to adhere to safety standards and take adequate precautions while driving behind the wheel.
