From the Moodie Davit Report: Dubai Duty Free wins The Filipino Times ‘Employer of the Year’ award

Dubai Duty Free (DDF) has been named Employer of the Year in the Filipino Times Awards, which celebrate the accomplishments of overseas Filipino workers in the UAE.

The fourth edition of the awards, held at the JW Marriot Marquis in Dubai on 7 September, attracted over 40,000 online votes, resulting in 34 winners of various categories from over 200 nominated brands.

DDF said that it had been recognised for its excellence in building the employer brand as the most sought after by Filipinos in the UAE.

Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Colm McLoughlin said: “We’re thrilled to have been named ‘Employer of the Year’ at The Filipino Times Awards. We currently employ 2,413 Filipino staff, which is the biggest group of employees.

“We have an internal recruitment policy across our company and I am delighted that we currently have Filipinos in 61 different positions, including shopfloor sales assistants, cashiers, supervisors, beauty advisors, merchandisers, display artists to name a few, while 21 are in managerial roles.”

Dubai Duty Free currently employs 6,100 staff of 47 different nationalities. It received over 81,500 unsolicited job applications during the last year.

From the original 100 DDF staff recruited in 1983, 26 are still in full-time service, including three from the Philippines.

The Filipino Times is a UAE-based weekly newspaper with a print run of 60,000 and claims to have over one million visitors to its website each month.
