Emirates notes ‘growing capacity’ of PH flights, stays the course

DUBAI: Flights of Emirates Airlines in three Philippine destinations are enjoying good capacity and growing, said a top company official.

Voted “Preferred Airline of the Year” at the just concluded 4th edition of The Filipino Times Awards, Emirates flies twice daily to Manila, and daily to Clark Airport and Cebu.

“We’ve been flying to the Philippines for a very long time right now and we’ve been growing in capacity over the years. It’s a very good sign for us,” Mohammed Alnahari Alhashmi, Emirates manager for UAE Sales said after in an interview after receiving the award during the red-carpet event held art J.W. Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Saying the airline currently doesn’t have plans to increase flights, Alhashmi expressed confidence the route remains bankable.

“The capacity is there, yes. For Emirates Airlines it’s very important whenever we open a route that each one is economically viable for us. Given the fact that we have been there for a very long time and there is an increase, this is a good indication that it is growing and is doing perfectly fine,” he said.

Emirates has been connecting Filipinos to and through Dubai since 1990. Due to progressive demand, the airline now serves Manila with three daily flights, in addition to a linked service between Cebu and Clark. Emirates’ extensive network of 161 destinations across 86 countries provides seamless connectivity and travel options for overseas Filipino professionals, business and leisure travellers.

The Emirates Group currently employs more than 4,800 Filipino nationals, of which 300 are Tagalong-speaking cabin crew trained to provide the very best experience on-board.
