The first Emirati-built satellite will be launched into orbit next month from the Japan Taigashima Space Center.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center tweeted on Wednesday, August 29 that the satellite will be fired on October 29, calling it an important milestone for UAE.
Named KhalifaSat, the satellite is considered to be a boost in UAE’s investment in the space industry, reported Arabian Business.
According to Dr. Mohamed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, the multi-billion satellite will be an inspiration for Emirati generations because it is the first to be manufactured in the country.
