The lifeless body of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Bahrain was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside his apartment in Manama, Bahrain.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the unnamed 37-year-old native of Quezon province reportedly committed suicide.
DFA said the repatriation of the remains of the OFW back to the Philippines is currently being processed while the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain is in coordination with local authorities there regarding the incident.
The body of the OFW is expected to be repatriated once medico-legal procedures have been conducted.
Ambassador Alfonso Ver, meanwhile, said they have talked to the family of the OFW and assured them of assistance from the Philippine government.
The alleged suicide in Bahrain happened less than a month after another OFW reportedly took his life in Saudi Arabia on July 31. Another OFW, also in Saudi, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off her employer’s flat in April.
