Cagayan North Int’l Airport gets accreditation, ready for commercial flights

The Cagayan North International Airport is now ready for domestic and international commercial flights after gaining accreditation from The International Civil Aviation Organization (IZAO).

This is according to Raul Lambino, the administrator and chief executive of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), reported Inquirer.

The airport in the town of Lal-lo will give Asian entrepreneurs and investors convenient access to the Freeport headquartered in Santa Ana, Cagayan.

Lambino said that several groups are considering developing the lands surrounding the airport into an aviation hub and shopping district.

The masterplan for the airport includes construction of hangars for aircrafts, VIP jet services, navigational system upgrades and advances, MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility, FBO (fixed-based operator) aviation service, airline crew training center, general aviation and commercial flights, among others.

Currently, the airport is operating chartered flights from Macau, considered as Asia’s casino gambling capital.
