The Medical City Dubai to stop operations beginning August 1

The Medical City Dubai (TMC), which hosted one of the largest Philippine healthcare networks, has informed its patients that it will cease operations beginning August 1. The facility was located in the Ground Floor of API Building, 2nd December Street, Jumeirah First, Dubai UAE.

The medical facility, also known as TMC Medical Services LLC, cited challenges during their 2 years and 9 months of operation at that eventually led them to be forced to arrive at the decision to stop their operations. “We tried very hard to sustain the operation so that we can provide you with the medical care and treatment that you are all been looking for here in Dubai, which is a care of Filipino Healthcare Professionals, specially our Filipino Doctors. However, we faced a lot of challenges during this period that forced us to cease the operation,” as per a communication from TMC which has been obtained by TFT.

Dr. Rebecca Oandasan-Desiderio, former TMC chief executive officer, told The Filipino Times in an interview from South Korea that she is saddened by the closure.

“Very sad and more of panghihinayang talaga,” said Desiderio, who was among those behind the opening of the medical facility.

“Parang ako na yata ang pinaka-sad,” she added.

Desiderio left TMC in January this year for personal reasons. She now lives in South Korea with her family.

Securing Medical Records

Amidst the impending closure, TMC continues to put their patients as their priority to make sure that they can secure their records.

Filipinos who wish to secure a soft copy of their medical records for free can call 0551354820 or email [email protected] . The service is only available until August 10, 2018.

To verify your identity, you need to provide TMC with the following information.
a. Complete Name (First and Last Name)
b. Mobile Number (as registered in our system)
c. Date of Birth
d. Emirates ID Number

HALZA-TMC tie up

TMC has also provided an option for their patients to get their records through Halza. Halza is an international software company with operations here in Dubai, developed a smartphone application where the patient can store and manage their health records whenever they need it and wherever they are in the world. Halza is working with Microsoft to make sure that all Health Records are kept in a very safe and secure environment. The application is available for free download in IOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store) Smartphones. A subscription fee of AED 40 per year (Special Price for TMC Patients) is required should you wish to upload all your medical records from TMC.

TMC has assigned Halza to manage the distribution of their patients’ medical records from August 1, 2018 should you opted to store and access your records from your smartphone which by far the most convenient and safest way. They have assigned a dedicated Medical Records Officer specially for all TMC Dubai patients to assist on this requirement. You may contact them at +971507695814 should you choose this option.

The Halza App allows you so quickly to grant limited time access to a new Physician through QuickShare. Furthermore, if you are responsible for managing the discussions with physicians for several family members you can activate the function Switch Accounts. Halza is ideal for people living overseas, and who need their records with them at all times.

TMC has made sure that all of their patients’ records are secured and safely stored in their data safe. To make sure that no one can access any patient’s records at any given time or circumstance, they need to provide Halza Officer the following information (Complete Name, Date of Birth, and Emirates ID Number) before they can access and download it from the TMC’s data safe. Any mismatch from the 3 required information will not allow Halza Officer to access and download your health records from the data safe.
