Mechanic faces trial in Dubai after mistaking woman for masseuse

A 38-year-old Filipina filed a complaint against a 23-year-old Egyptian man after allegedly molesting her.

The Filipina who works as a secretary said that she once shared an elevator with the Egyptian mechanic when she went up to her residence at Dubai International City back in May, reported Gulf News.

Court records stated that when they reached the third floor of the building, the complainant waited for the suspect to get off the elevator. But when the Egyptian man did not move, the Filipina decided to take the lead and exit the elevator first.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, the man followed her and touched her inappropriately. The suspect also thought that she works as a masseuse and asked her for a massage.

The Filipina then scolded and shouted at the man causing him to apologize and go back inside the elevator to descend to the second floor.

She immediately reported the incident to the police who apprehended the suspect four days after in a sting operation in Ras Al Khor area.

The defendant pleaded not guilty when he stood before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

A court ruling will be pronounced on July 25.
