Travel agencies’ promos enable more Pinoys to see Europe

DUBAI: Travel agencies have been enjoying brisk business arising from the annual July-August vacation leave season with more and more overseas Filipino workers availing of packages affording them European destinations, The Filipino Times learned.

“Our bookings have been going up,” said Malou Prado, MPQ Tourism owner and CEO, adding that they are able to issue flight tickets to a minimum of 30 people a day.

Imtiaz Hussain, Tabeer Tourism general manager, for his part said there has been a 30% to 40% increase in their bookings. The company, he said, has been receiving over 1,500 inquiries a day. He said Tabeer Tourism has 25% of the market.

“Almost 98% of the clients travel during the summer break,” Hussain said.

Meantime, Prado said OFWs in menial jobs usually book for home tickets while those in the supervisory and managerial levels go for Europe.

Prado said adding to the volume of traffic is the annual school summer break where OFWs who have kids studying in the UAE all together go to the Philippines and enjoy the holidays.

He added: “Laborers go home but this year their numbers got some changes and they also started to visit Europe due to cheap packages.”

Among these, Hussain said, is Tabeer Tourism’s package for trips to the Czech Republic, Montenegro and Ukraine.

MPQ Tourism, Prado said, has a travel package to Armenia.
