LOOK: Domestic helper cleaning windows on ledge of 24th floor of building

A domestic helper was spotted cleaning a window on a ledge of the 23rd or 24th floor of an apartment building in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, without any safety belts or harness.

In a series of photos posted on Facebook by an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) named Rochen Monte, she said she often sees the woman cleaning the window from the outside of the high-rise building.

‘“Kawawa naman siya. Araw-araw ko nakikita naglilinis ng bintana. Lalabas pa talaga ng bintana,” Monte’s post read.

Although, she was not sure of what nationality the woman is, she said that the domestic helper cleans the window even during bad weather condition.

A similar photo of a Filipina risking her life while cleaning the window panes of a flat in a high-rise building went viral in August 2017.

The photo showed the Filipina holding onto the frame without any safety belts or harness.

Law protecting Filipino domestic helpers

The Philippine government has banned Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong from cleaning windows of high-rise buildings on October 2016, two months after Filipino domestic helper Rinalyn Dullog fell to her death while washing the window of her employer’s flat on the 49th floor of a high-rise building in Hong Kong.

The Philippines Consulate in Hong Kong notified maid agencies in October last year that all contracts for Filipino workers will have to stipulate specifically that washing the windows in high rise buildings is not part of their job, otherwise the consulate will refuse to endorse them, effectively blocking the hire.
