Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah dies

UAE flags at Ras Al Khaimah will be raised at half-mast beginning today, July 2, as a part of the emirate’s three-day mourning period over the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah passed away on Sunday, July 1, the Royal Court of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah announced.

“The Royal Court (Diwan) announces the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed on the Shawwal 17 which coincides with July 1,” the official statement read.

“We offer our condolences to the Al Qasimi family and loved ones of the deceased.”

A funeral will be held at Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah today, July 2, before his burial at the the Al Qasimi family cemetery.

Sheikh Hamad’s family will accept condolences from men at the Al Diyafa Majlis from 9am until 12pm and from 4pm until 7pm.

Meanwhile, condolences from women will be accepted at the house of the late Shaikh Sultan Bin Saqr Al Qasimi.

The acceptance of condolences will last for three days.
