The Indak Pinoy and Himig Pinoy competitions ended with their Grand Finals at the recently held Philippine Independence Day Celebrations at the Abu Dhabi National Theatre last June 29, 2018. Efremar Jones Adarna’s rendition of Leo Valdez’s “Magsimula Ka” won him 1st place for Himig Pinoy, while Elements Crew who hail all the way from Dubai were the champions for Indak Pinoy.

The inaugural dancing competition co-organized by the Abu Dhabi Filipino Dance Club (ADFDC) held their screenings for the dance competition early June, with 4 dance groups vying for the top prize. Elements Crew from Dubai impressed the judges and the audience with their synchronized moves and slick stunts. Abu Dhabi’s Pinoy Pride Dance Crew was the 1st runner up winner while Abu Dhabi’s Raijinz were hailed as the 2nd runner up winner.
Himig Pinoy
With initial screenings held both at Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the inaugural singing competition organized by the Organisasyong ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit at Mananayaw sa Abu Dhabi (OPMMAD) and the Filipino International Teachers Society in the UAE FITS-UAE witnessed 10 amazing singers who come from different parts of the Emirates. Efremar Jones Adarna captured the crowd’s and the judges’ hearts with his soulful version of Leo Valdez’s “Magsimula Ka” that hailed him as the champion. Ann Marjorie Bayaras also had the audience singing with her version of Sampaguita’s “Nosi Balasi” that landed her 2nd place. Al Angelo Bernal’s heartfelt version of Wency Cornejo’s “Hanggang” won him 3rd place.
Indak Pinoy and Himig Pinoy are two of Abu Dhabi’s PIDC 2018 main events organized by the Bayanihan Council in Abu Dhabi in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
