Dubai opens application for freelance permit. Here’s how to apply!

The Dubai Tecom Group, in partnership with Dubai Creative Clusters Authority, on Tuesday, June 26, launched the program ‘Gofreelance’ which would allow workers to get a freelance permit for various media companies as well as in the education sector in Dubai for Dh7,500 annually.

Media practitioners can apply for jobs as actors, journalist, animator, scriptwriters, among others. Meanwhile, those who are seeking for opportunities in the education sector can apply as education advisor and eLearning advisor.

Non-residents are also welcomed to apply for freelance posts in the UAE by securing visa to be processed by Tecom for Dh3,250. The visa will be valid for three years.

The freelance permit, however, is only available for those who are able to secure “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from their employer or sponsor.

Applicants who wish to apply for freelance permit are instructed to visit www.gofreelance.ae to upload the application forms and required documents.

Required documents are as follows:
– CV
– Copy of the applicant’s passport and visa
– Bank reference letter
– Sponsor’s NOC (if needed)
– Portfolio or sample of work (media sector only)
– Credentials and certificates (for freelancers in education sector)
– Additional documents may be required

Here are the 3 easy steps:
1. Apply and submit your online application
2. When your application is approved, you will receive an email notification. You can then come down to one of our business centres in DMC or DKP to personally sign your documents and pay the fee.
3. Shortly afterwards you’ll receive your freelance permit via email.
