Connecting to Dubai metro’s Wi-Fi to go faster than the trains

DUBAI: Gone are the days when Dubai metro passengers trying to access the system’s wifi would usually be arriving at their station and still not be linked.

As part of the “Chat with RTA” initiative, where the agency’s customers’ council listens to ideas and recommendations of the commuting public, it was decided changed to speed up the Wi-Fi inside the metro carriages will be introduced.

In a statement, RTA said they are now coordinating with a telecommunication company to improve the Wi-Fi speed in the trains.

Aside from faster Wi-Fi, another recommendation raised during the ‘Chat with RTA’ was to allot more time for the train doors to open in order to accommodate more passengers, and to allow them to board and get off the train in a more organized manner.
