“You’ll spend billions to make me insignificant,” says Sara to Trillanes

by | News

Davao City mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte warned Senator Antonio Trillanes IV that he will have to “spend more than a billion in the 2022 Presidential elections just to make [Sara Duterte] insignificant”.

The presidential daughter made the comment after Trillanes claimed that President Rodrigo Duterte would declare martial law and Charter Change to remain in power. If the plan fails, the senator said, the President would encourage the Davao City mayor to run in the 2022 presidential elections.

“‘Pag di natuloy ‘yan, wala na siyang magagawa [kundi] option C niya ay itutulak niya si Sara Duterte bilang pangulo sa 2022, pero ang unang hakbang niyan ay itulak siya para senador sa 2019,” Trillanes said.

In a Facebook post, the presidential daughter responded to Trillanes’ comment with a warning.

“LEAVE ME ALONE, Senator Trillanes. The last time a person irked me, I made sure to make it difficult for him to bring me down and Speaker Boy Nograles lost that election and was a billion pesos poorer,” Sara Duterte said, recalling Nograles’ loss in 2010 mayoral elections.

The presidential daughter added, “You and your friends will spend more than a billion in the 2022 Presidential elections just to make me insignificant.”

The younger Duterte also echoed her father’s earlier comment that Trillanes would be shot “someday” for his arrogance.

The presidential daughter said if her father imagines Trillanes would be shot, she “will make sure you are alive and in pain” adding her mother’s description of her as a “heartless” woman.

I have been described as heartless by my mother, please do not anger me so that you may remain relevant for the future generation. And you should listen to my mother,” the younger Duterte said.

Earlier, the younger Duterte joked about running for the vice-presidential post in the 2022 national elections. She, however, said she is open to running for an elective post in 2019 midterm elections.

“Vice President? Joke only. Yeah, I’m open,” she said.
