The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi together with the leaders and members from the Filipino community celebrated the 120th Philippine Independence Day on the embassy grounds.
The celebrations were led by Chargé d’affaires Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, Vice Consul Von Ryan Pangwi, Vice Consul Anna Guerra, Labor Attaché Ophelia Almenario, Assistant Labor Attachés Jay Jasper Javines and Jesus Vicente Magsaysay, as well as the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy.
Messages from the Philippine Government for the Filipino community were shared at the event. Chargé d’affaires Pangilinan-Daquipil read the message of the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. President Duterte’s message acknowledges the triumph of our heroes from the past to which we owe our independence to. “Sa pagbibigay-halaga sa kalyaang tinubos ng pawis at dugo ng ating mga bayani, nawa ay maging metatag tayo sa ating paninindigang mabigyan ng mas magandang kinabukasan ang ating mga mamamayan,” said President Duterte in his message.
Vice Consul Von Ryan Pangwi read the message of DFA Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and Labor Attaché Atty. Ophelia Almenario read the message of DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
In attendance were the leaders and members of various Filipino organizations within Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
