Women in the UAE urged to take advantage of free PCOS and Breast Cancer checkup

Breast Cancer has been occurring in the UAE at an alarming rate with more than 20% of female deaths in the UAE caused by it. This is why hospitals such as the Abeer Alnoor Polyclinic are now spearheading free checkups for women not only for Breast Cancer, but to check them for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS as well.

Doctors in the UAE state that “one screening may save a life”. And with hospitals reporting that females as young as 17 may be at risk, taking advantage of free screenings will help to detect the disease in its early stages.

Free checkup and free ultrasound scanning

If you’re worried and wish to get a checkup to determine if you might be at risk, the Abeer Alnoor Polyclinic will be having the free checkup plus a free ultrasound scanning at their location in Deira from June 3 to June 8. Timings from Saturdays to Thursdays are from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Timings during Fridays begin from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Women who will have their free checkup the aforementioned dates can also get discounts on procedures.

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide as reported by The World Cancer Research Fund International with almost 2 million reported cases since 2012. 1 in 3 cancers diagnosed in women is breast cancer. On the other hand, the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women. In one study, up to 70 percent of women with PCOS hadn’t been diagnosed.
