Filipino jobseeker among those victimized by this new scam in Dubai

A Filipino jobseeker was offered a monthly salary of Dh35,000 per month, exclusive of other privileges, to work as an administrative coordinator in a hospital in Dubai.

There is one problem, however. The hospital was non-existent as the offer was a mere scam.

Foreign jobseekers are warned against the new scam which lures potential victims by sending fake job positions with attractive offers in a certain Maris Hospital, reported Gulf News.

The non-existent hospital offers jobs with big salaries and extra privileges including allowances and accommodations.

Under the scheme, scammers ask jobseekers to deposit to a travel firm’s bank account Dh4,730 as employment and visa documents processing fees, which they can reimburse upon arrival in the UAE.

Many have fallen victim to the scam as the offer letters sent to them carry a fake stamp by the Ministry of Interior.

Foreign jobseekers are reminded that UAE labour laws do not allow “recruitment agents and companies to charge job candidates and employees any fees for any part of the recruitment process or residence visa and work permit application.”
