DUBAI: Jollibee will have two new stores before Eid al Fitr and another one by August this year, Hisham Al Gurg, chief executive of the Private Office of Sheikh Saeed Bin Ahmad Al Maktoum, and chief investor in the Philippine fastfood chain’s UAE franchise, told The Filipino Times.

This, even as Jollibee was officially given the nod by Prime Certification and Inspection for passing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), an internationally accepted system ensuring food safety as set forth under ISO, the International Organization for Standardization.

“We are now basically trying to expand into Al Ain..in Al Ain Mall; the second store after that is in Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi and third store after that is in City Centre Deira,”Al Gurg said.

“Inshallah, before Eid, we should be targeting to open Al Ain and Al Wahda; and Deira hopefully sometime this coming August… end of August,” he added.

Jollibee already has 11 stores in the UAE; the first opened in Dubai Mall in May 2015, followed by an outlet in the Mall of the Emirates in February 2016.

Meantime, Jollibee’s BurJuman Centre store received its commendation from Prime Certification and Inspection on May 14, 2018 for HACCP compliance. It was the first of the 11 stores to be certified.

“We are very honored and pleased to see this certificate for our first store, Jollibee BurJuman, and that speaks highly of our standards for safety and which will lead us to our certification for first halal-certified store,” said Al Gurg.

Engr. Salah Ameen Mohammed, Prime managing director said they are “glad to have given the certification to Jollibee,” which he said is “one of our strategic partners, especially being from Philippines.”

“I am very glad to cooperate with them and give them our services,” Mohammed said, adding that Prime has set up office at the Bonifacio Global City in Metro Manila to enhance the company’s operations with Philippine food manufacturers  for halal accreditation.

For her part, Engr. Mary Jane Alvero, Prime chief executive officer, said the HACCP certification given to Jollibee “speaks a lot about their commitment to food safety and security which is aligned with the vision of the UAE.”
