Filipino nurses group celebrates International Nurses Day in Abu Dhabi

The Filipino Nurses Association in the Emirates (FNAE) recently celebrated the International Nurses Day at the Royal Rose Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Vice Consul Von Ryan Pangwi represented the Philippine Embassy and shared inspiring words for the guests. “We celebrate the people who are part of the backbone of our health system. More importantly, we celebrate our Filipino nurses who have touched the lives of patients and families by their care, patience, dedication, and strong sense of service.” said Pangwi.

Joel Hualde, president of the FNAE, said that this event is a commemoration of the historic efforts of Florence Nightingale in modernizing the practice of nursing as well as a celebration of Filipino nurses in the UAE. “Filipino Nurses in UAE strive to excel in their chosen profession. They may take specializations in infection control, wound care, oncology, quality improvement, occupational health etc., while others may be educators, managers, or even entrepreneurs,” said Hualde.

Hualde, who has been in the UAE for 14 years, has observed how the field of nursing has grown in the country over the years and is optimistic that the practice will evolve further in the coming years. “We, at FNAE, welcome nurses who want to be a part of the organization. We also look forward to partnering with different institutions in our aim to promote the continuous development of nurses in the UAE,” said Hualde.
