Honest barangay worker returns bag with P200K cash

A barangay worker in Lapu-Lapu City did not think twice about returning a bag which contained Php200,000.

Leandro Tampus-Ngujo retrieved the bag containing the cash during his shift as a barangay tanod in Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, reported GMA News.

Although he needed money, the 65-year-old barangay worker did not hesitate to return the cash to Marj Cometa, the owner of the bag.

“Wala akong interes diyan. Matanda na tayo. Mahirap na,” Tampus-Ngujo said.

Cometa thanked the barangay worker for his honesty. He said the money was supposedly allotted for his workers’ compensation.

“Pagkakita ko, agad akong bumalik dahil sure ako na dito ko naiwan so pagtanong ko sa in-charge na naka-duty kagabi and then sinabi nila na may nakapagtabi,” Cometa said.
