Philippine Embassy and POLO in Abu Dhabi spearheads the 2018 Philippine Labor Day celebrations

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted the 2018 Philippine Labor Day celebrations organized by the Philippine Business Council held at the Universal Hospital auditorium in collaboration with the Bayanihan Council in Abu Dhabi.

Labor Attache Atty. Ophelia Almenario said that their aim was for OFWs to have a better understanding of their rights as overseas workers, as well as to remind them about the importance of knowing the labor and immigration laws of the UAE. “Knowledge and understanding of the immigration and labor laws as well as the culture and tradition of the UAE as the host country is the key to a better working relationship between the workers and their employers,” said Almenario.

The event hosted around 150+ OFWs under the theme: “Uniting Workers for Social & Economic Advancement”. Several activities for OFWs took place such as games, raffle draws, as well as inspirational talks that highlighted how foreign employers perceive, view, and understand their Filipino employees. Resource speakers also discussed how OFWs can overcome their challenges on their social and economic advancement during their stay here in the UAE.
