Saudi HR body to investigate case of OFW forced to drink bleach

The highest human rights group in Saudi Arabia will look into the case of Agnes Mancilla, an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Jeddah who was forced to drink bleach by her employer.

Consul General Edgar Badajos of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah said representatives from the National Society for Human Rights has visited Mancilla at the King Fahd Hospital to interview her regarding her case.

Badajos added that the group “was organized to defend not only the human rights of Saudis but those of residents and visitors as well.”

The HR group, he said, can investigate on cases of human rights abuse in the country and make appropriate recommendations to the Prosecution Office based on its findings.
