The National Search and Rescue Center (NSRC) on Sunday, April 15, airlifted a Filipino sailor from a Republic of Cyprus ship after suffering from critical burns.

The NSRC received a call from the captain of the vessel from Cyprus at around 2:25 in the afternoon, reported Al Khaleej.

The captain gave the authorities their location outside UAE territorial waters and informed the NSRC that the vessel is expected to enter UAE’s maritime border by 8:40 in the evening.

A search and rescue plane of the NSRC was immediately deployed to the sea to airlift the 44-year old Filipino sailor.

Due to his critical condition, he was rushed to Rashid Hospital in Dubai, the nearest hospital in the area.
