Attitude, new age skills top requirement for Filipino fresh grads seeking job

Philippine employers consider attitude and new age skills as top requirements for fresh graduates seeking jobs.

“Attitude and new age skills have overtaken experience as the top consideration for employers in hiring fresh graduates,” Philip Gioca, JobStreet Philippines country manager said in reference to the company’s report.

Unlike previous results where internship experience was the top priority, attitude and work ethics topped the list this year.

Communication and analytical skills are also highly considered by employers.

Other considerations include one’s on-the-job training or internship, part-time work, and extra-curricular activities, willingness to learn, personal grooming, and willingness to work as part of a team.

Meanwhile, the report showed that employers find their fresh grads’ leadership skills to be lacking.

“Our hirers are becoming demanding. Kahit na fresh grad ka, they’re still looking for leadership qualities … Nagiging customer-related na rin ang businesses ngayon,” Gioca noted.
