President Rodrigo Duterte took a quick break from his presidential duties to celebrate the 70th birthday of his ex-wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman, last Saturday night.
The celebration was attended by family members and close friends.
Davao City Information Officer Jefry Tupas shared a series of photos and videos of the party on his Facebook account.
At one point, Duterte took the stage to serenade his ex-wife. He sang the song “Ikaw” and they shared a kiss afterwards.
The former couple also shared an intimate moment as they danced together.
Tupas also quoted the president who said that he will still choose to marry Zimmerman if given another chance and another life.
During their time together, Duterte and Zimmerman were blessed with three children, namely Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, former Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and Sebastian.
The two separated in 1998 and their marriage was annulled two years later. Duterte and Zimmerman decided to stay friends ever since.
