Scalded OFW in Saudi arrives home

The overseas Filipina worker (OFW) who was doused with boiling water in Saudi Arabia four years ago has arrived in the Philippines.

The plane that took home domestic helper Pahima Alagasi arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Friday, April 13, past 10 in the morning.

She was welcomed by Foreign Affairs officials and ACTS-OFW party-list representative Aniceto “John” Bertiz III.

The OFW was accompanied by Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto.

In May 2014, the mother of Alagasi’s employer allegedly poured boiling water on her back and neck while picking up the lid of a thermos that fell on the floor. .

Alagasi filed a maltreatment case. However, her employer countered by filing a slander case for posting on Facebook photos of burns she sustained.

The two later on had an agreement after the intervention of Saudi authorities.

Alagasi’s ongoing trials stopped her from going home.

The OFW was able to go home after President Rodrigo Duterte requested Saudi Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif to allow the Filipina to return to the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the OFW advised other Filipinos aspiring to work in Saudi. She said: “Pag-isipan muna nilang mabuti ‘yung gagawin po nila, kasi hindi po basta-basta na pumunta du’n na mahina ‘yung loob mo. Kailangan mo rin pong mag-ipon ng lakas ng loob.”
