An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Candelaria, Quezon was axed to death by a 19-year-old helper.
The OFW was identified as Efren Cornejo, who was about to return to Dubai next week, reported GMA.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been named by authorities as Jhomel Marasigan.
According to reports, Cornejo tried to have a peaceful conversation with the suspect, who had a spat with one of the victim’s sons.
The two seemed to have settled the conflict and even shook hands.
However, when Cornejo was driving home on his motorcycle, the suspect appeared from behind and swung at him with an ax.
Cornejo was struck in the head and body and died at the scene.
Authorities were able to recover the murder weapon, but the suspect was able to flee.
Candelaria police are still on a manhunt for the suspect.
