RTA to impose Dh4 parking fee in Al Khail Gate in Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Wednesday that it will be imposing a payment of Dh4 per hour to motorists who will park their cars at the Al Khail Gate in Dubai.

The RTA said the new rule will be implemented in the second quarter of 2018 as RTA takes over the management of operations of parking lots in the area.

“The move is intended to streamline the use of that parking area, which is witnessing high occupancy rates, and provide the highest number of parking slots possible to users. The step is in line with RTA’s to ensure optimal utilisation of resources and stepping up the level of service on offer across all districts of the emirate,” the RTA said.

Parking lots will also be assigned specifically for residents and visitors.

“The parking lot at Al Khail Gate Community has been classified into different zones designated by clearly displayed signs as per the needs of the community. Some parking spaces will be allocated to residents only, and others will be available for visitors,” said Hussain Al Banna, Executive Director of Traffic, Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA.

RTA, however, clarified that the maximum daily for parked vehicles will be set at Dh32 for 24 hours.

“These parking lots will be subject to tariff 24/7 once taken over by the RTA in the second quarter of 2018. The fee will be Dh4 per hour and a maximum daily fee of Dh32 per 24 hours,” Al Banna said.

“Seasonal parking permits will be provided to residents at different rates, depending on the validity of the permit. Permits on offer include Dh2,500 per annum, Dh1,500 per six months, and Dh1,000 per three months. Permits will enable residents to use the entire parking zones, be it for residents or visitors,” he added.
