Bus conductor shames OFW family for not paying exact fare

A bus conductor is currently under investigation after shaming a mother and her three children inside a bus for not paying exact amount of fare.

According to the passenger, Melanie Villafranca, the incident happened inside a Diamond Star bus bound EDSA around 9 in the evening, April 3.

Villarica, together with her three children, was on her way home from NAIA to Quezon City after sending off her overseas Filipino worker (OFW) husband to his flight.

During the ride, she told the conductor she would only pay for her and her eldest child’s seat while her two other children would only sit on their laps.

The bus conductor, Ronald Insiong, refused by raising his voice while telling them they are “too big” to only occupy two seats.

“Sabi niya ‘Ay hindi, ang lalaki ninyo’… Napahiya ako at di ako mapakali. Naghihintay ako ng chance na makausap siya in a nice way pero di siya natinag. Pinapahiya niya kami,” Villafranca stold ABS-CBN News.

Due to this, Villafranca asked the conductor drop them off at Coastal Road and told their conductor she would only pay for their fare from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to Coastal Road.

Insiong refused again saying he has issued their ticket already.

Villafranca, later on, asked help from police who were deployed along EDSA-Ayala.

The OFW wife is determined to file unjust vexation case against the bus conductor and another complaint at the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Board Member Atty. Aileen Lizada reminded the public that passengers below one meter in height should be allowed to sit on the lap of an older passenger, making their fare free-of-charge.
