“Student organizations may have been infiltrated by NPA,” says PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has issued a statement that parents on their children’s activities this summer as there were a few student organizations who were reportedly “infiltrated” by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

In a report from GMA News, the PNP mentioned of sightings of college students together with communist rebels on areas marked as bailiwicks of the NPA.

“The Philippine National Police discourages students from venturing into insurgency-affected areas to join summer off-campus activities that are organized by groups that may have been infiltrated by front organizations of the terrorist CPP-NPA,” said PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao.

Bulalacao warns that both the police and military will conduct more operations in rebel-infested areas. “The sad part is that their parents never knew of their involvement with the underground movement,” adds Bulalacao.
