Fake online recruiter offers inexistent jobs in UK

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has warned the public on Tuesday against an online recruiter who claims to be the Philippine Embassy to scam Filipinos looking for jobs in United Kingdom (UK).

According to the report released by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in London, the recruiter uses the e-mail account [email protected] to recruit overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) for non-existent jobs.

The Philippine Trade & Investment Centre in the European country has clarified that the e-mail is not, in any way, related to the Philippine Embassy in UK.

London Labor Attaché Reydeluz Conferido asked the help of different government agencies to track the identity of the user. He is decided to file charges against the suspect who posed a threat to the security of OFWs in UK.

“We hope that we could mobilize the other government resources to track its source and bring to justice those who are so brazen in this illegal activity,” he said in a statement.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) also reminded Filipino jobseekers to verify license and permits of recruitment agencies and to verify the job offer presented.
