DOLE to link repatriated OFWs to PH employers via job fair

The labor department yesterday, March 14, called on workers who have returned from overseas deployment to take advantage of the employment opportunities being offered at the “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK)” job and business fair happening on March 26 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

The department has also called on other job seekers, such as fresh graduates.

“To cater to our OFW returnees, especially those from Kuwait, a special lane will be provided so we can assist them. Depending on their skills and work experience, we will link them to available job opportunities here in our country or provide them free skills training, if needed,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said.

Aside from the thousands of employment opportunities from various local employers and private recruitment agencies, employment opportunities for skilled workers in the construction industry will also be available during the one-day fair.

Bello said the demand is due to the ‘Build, Build, Build’ project of the Duterte administration.

To avoid the long process of registration, Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) Director Dominique Tutay advised jobseekers to pre-register at the PhilJobNet, the government’s official job search, job matching, and labor market information portal, from March 12 to 21.

Jobseekers may log-in at the PhilJobNet portal (https://philjobnet.gov.ph/), click ‘job fair’, and click ‘join job fair’ at the TNK Cuneta Astrodome. Click ‘yes’ to join and pre-register.

The applicant should then print the job fair pre-registration online stub and present it to the event organizer at the registration area during the day of the job fair.

This early, Bello also reminded applicants to prepare their application requirements, which are as follows:

• Resume or curriculum vitae (bring extra copies for multiple job applications)
• 2×2 ID pictures
• Certificate of employment for those formerly employed
• Diploma and/or transcript of records
• Authenticated birth certificate

The job and business fair is a project of the labor department, the local government of Pasay City and its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
