Some 50,595 pedestrians were caught in the Capital for crossing roads in the Capital in 2017, the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate said.
“Traffic police will keep a close eye on jaywalkers and will maintain zero tolerance against offenders,” the directorate warned.
A fine of Dh400 will be slapped among offenders and the directorate has advised pedestrians to use underpasses, bridges and zebra lines to avoid the getting fined.
Meanwhile, a driver will have to pay a fine of Dh500 and get six black points on his traffic file for failure to respect pedestrians’ right of way.
