Kin of missing Pinay in Kuwait fear she may end up like Joanna Demafelis

Another Filipino worker in Kuwait has been reported missing by her relatives after they were unable to contact her for the past six months.

According to her family, Russel Diarisco Salome went to Kuwait in October 2016. After her first month in the Gulf state, the Filipina was able to send money to her husband and three children in Pasig, reported GMA News.

The family had asked help from Diarisco’s recruitment agency, Tiffany. When the agency reached her on the phone, the Filipina was said to be “uncommunicative”.

“Pinapauwi siya pero hindi siya nagsasalita, ma’am. Parang natatakot siya,” Diarisco’s brother said.

After this report from Diarisco’s agency, her family started to suspect that Diarisco was being drugged by her employers.

“Humihingi kami ng tulong para matulungan kami. Kahit wala nang pera padala basta makauwi lang ‘yung anak namin,” said Diarisco’s mother Lolita.

The family is worried about Diarisco’s safety fearing she might end up like Joanna Demafelis, whose body was found inside a freezer of an apartment in Kuwait. Following her death, the Philippine government announced a total deployment ban of OFWs to Kuwait.

The Diarisco family went to Demafelis’ wake in Sara, Iloilo, to extend their sympathy and talk to Philippine labor officials to seek help.
