A 35-year old Bangladeshi man was sentenced to one-year imprisonment on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 before the Dubai Court of First Instance after proven guilty for sexually abusing his employer’s daughter.
The eight-year-old Singaporean girl was placed inside a children’s playroom and was handed a doll to act out to the Dubai Police interrogators how the truck driver, who worked for her mother’s company, had groped her private parts, kissed and hugged her, and forced her to touch him, reported Gulf News.
The case was brought to court when the mother of the victim reported the incident to the police after the minor told her how the man did indecent acts on her in December 27 last year at their company’s canteen.
Enraged, the mother rushed to the police and the accused was apprehended 45 minutes later.
During the prosecution, the accused denied the allegations saying he was just giving the girl a ‘fatherly kiss’ while they were taking photos.
The mother testified and countered by telling what her daughter narrated to her at bedtime.
“My girl told me that she wanted to tell me an important secret. I was shocked at what I heard from her … she begged me not to tell the suspect what she had told me. She said that when I went to get lunch, the defendant took her to the company’s canteen and molested her. She told me that he did something indecent to her and made her touch him,” she said.
Dubai Court of First Instance then convicted the defendant and ordered deportation after serving his sentence.
The primary rulings remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
