Duterte set to visit Demafelis’ wake

President Rodrigo Duterte will visit the wake of Joanna Demafelis, the OFW from Kuwait whose body was found inside a freezer, this week, said Malacanang on Monday.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed that the president is scheduled to go to Iloilo to visit the wake of the murdered OFW.

However, the exact date of Duterte’s visit was not mentioned by Roque.

The presidential spokesperson also said that the government would be extending financial and burial assistance to the family of Demafelis.

“Death (and burial benefits), financial assistance to the family. And I am sure the President will announce other contribution,” he said.

Demafelis’ remains arrived in the Philippines from Kuwait last Friday.

Her death, along with seven other cases, urged the Philippine government to impose a total deployment ban to Kuwait to ensure the protection and welfare of the OFWs working there.
