Filipina in Kuwait begs to be rescued from ‘abusive’ employer

As the body of slain OFW Joanna Demafelis is on its way back home, another distressed Filipina worker in Kuwait is seeking the help of Philippine authorities to rescue her from her employer.

In a Facebook video, Faith (not her real name) showed bruises on her left arm while crying to help her escape from the abuses she suffers from her current employer who allegedly beats her.

“Please po tulungan niyo ko, gusto ko nang umuwi… please po tulungan niyo ko, kinukulong ako ng amo ko, sinasaktan ako ng amo ko,” Faith said in the video reported by GMA News.

In January this year, Faith said that she was “sold” by her former employer to her current boss, who caused her emotional and physical abuse.

Meanwhile, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said in a statement that they have already alerted the labor office in Kuwait regarding Faith’s situation.

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered a total deployment ban of OFWs in Kuwait following the discovery of Demafelis’ corpse in a freezer inside an abandoned apartment. According to an autopsy, Demafelis died due to a severe beating. Her body is expected to arrive in the Philippines today, February 16.

Kuwaiti police have coordinated with Interpol in tracking down the slain OFW’s former employers, a Lebanese man and his Syrian wife.
