A Filipina domestic helper in Hong Kong placed second in a photo competition held by the National Geographic.
Joan Pabona submitted an entry under the category of “People and Happenings in Hong Kong” for the National Geographic Wheelock Youth Photo Competition 2017, reported Inquirer.
Pabona’s entry titled “Sacrifice,” shows a construction worker fixing and arranging a safety net.
The photo looks very expressive and dramatic after being shot in black and white.

Pabona has been awarded a cash prize of HK$6,500 (P43,000), and 12 issues of National Geographic magazine traditional Chinese edition for winning second place.
Pabona has been working in Hong Kong since 2013. She took the award-winning photo from the eighth floor of the building where she works for a family.
