Western Union’s quest for ultimate Filipino singing champ in the UAE

DUBAI — Western Union, a global leader in cross border, cross currency money movement, has kicked off its “Pinoy Superstar” competition, providing a platform to celebrate and recognize the singing talent of the Filipino community in the Middle East.

The competition is open to Filipino residents in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.aged at least 18 years old. Aspiring contestants can register their details and submit an online audition video link that is accessible to the public on www.westernunion.com/ph/pinoysuperstar. Registrations are open until Feb. 10, 2018.

The “Pinoy Superstar” winner will get a cash prize of USD $10,000, with four runners up receiving a USD $2,000 cash prize each.

“Filipinos are passionate about singing and we are excited to provide this platform where they can showcase their vocal talents. We know that many Filipinos are away from their families and work hard to support loved ones back home. Through this competition, we hope to give them an opportunity to express their passion, live their dreams and inspire others,” said Hatem Sleiman, Western Union regional vice president for the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

After an initial round of screening, shortlisted contestants from each country will be made to audition live. Their audition videos will be made available online for public viewing and voting. The five contestants with the highest scores from the online voting will qualify for the grand finale. The five finalists will compete for the grand prize in the finale on Apr. 13, 2018, in Dubai.
