President Rodrigo Duterte commemorated his mother’s sixth death anniversary by visiting her grave at the Davao Republic and Roman Catholic cemetery.
At around 7pm on Sunday night, Pres. Duterte was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President Christopher Bong Go as he lit candles and offered prayers to his mother, Solenad Roa Duterte.
Solenad or Nanay Soling died at the age of 95 on February 4, 2012 at the Davao Doctors Hospital. A lingering illness was the cause of her death.
Solenad was a teacher in Davao City who actively participated in socio-civic activities. She led the Yellow Friday Movement in Mindanao during the Marcos administration.
The President was very close to his mother and has spoken highly of her during his speeches.
