Filipino father collects coins to fund daughter’s liver transplant

A Filipino father seen in a viral photo sitting at the foot of her 11-month-old daughter’s bed at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) is saving and counting every peso for his baby’s liver transplant.

Jeric Trestre is in need of P5 million for the liver transplant of Baby Zhianna who is suffering from biliary atresia.

Baby Esang was diagnosed of biliary atresia in July when she was rushed to PGH from Isabela province last July upon noticing that her skin and eyes had turned yellowish, reported GMA News.

An infant suffering from such disease should undergo liver transplant to prevent “irreversible liver damage,” as per the University of California San Francisco’s Department of Surgery.

When his stolen photo was uploaded by a Facebook user Jenny Sumalpong on social media, Trestre family was flooded with donations and help from the netizens.

Currently, they’re raising funds through raffles and t-shirt for the operation.
