Filipina Jane DeGrand was shocked when she found out that she has a half-brother living in Indiana, USA.
In January this year, she finally met her half-brother Chris Livesay.
Back in December, Jane, who was born in the Philippines but now lives in Washington, D.C., tracked this through an online DNA testing. She immediately sent Livesay a Facebook message, showing him the online DNA testing result to prove that they have the same father named John, reported Fox59.
According to Jane, his father, who was serving the US Air Force in the late ’60s and early ’70s, was assigned to the Philippines where he met Jane’s mom.
Apparently, her mother had no idea that she was pregnant when Jane’s father left the Philippines.
Jane started his search for her dad. She said, “The first thing they would ask is who’s your dad? Who’s your dad because I look different than any other Filipino—I stick out in the Philippines.”
She then searched the Livesay family in Ancestry DNA, a website designed to help people trace their family by filling in information, and results revealed that she had a likely match to the Indiana family.
Chris, according to Jane, showed photos of their late dad and one of those was a picture of her mom and her dad.
The siblings took another DNA test to verify their relationship.
“Even though he (John) didn’t know I exist, I know he actually existed and he is real,” she said.
