More than 80 jobs for expatriates were recently banned in Oman to be effective immediately.
The six-month ban came into effect after the Ministry of Manpower issued ministerial decree 2018/38 last Sunday, January 28, reported The National.
According to the ministry, this freeze hiring aims to increase the employment rate among its nationals especially to their fresh graduates who are having difficulty in landing a job.
The temporary ban “would help companies to create vacancies for Omanis who are looking for jobs,” said Abdullah bin Nasser Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower.
Ten industries including Medical, Engineering, and Administration services will be affected with the ban.
