Leaders mourn death of President Khalifa’s mother

Leaders across the UAE are sympathizing with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as he mourns over the loss of his mother, Her Highness Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, who passed away on January 28, 2018.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs declared a 3-day official mourning period with flags at half mast starting today.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to Twitter his condolences.

“My deep condolences to UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and all of the people of the UAE, on our loss of his mother Her Highness Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. May she rest in peace.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also expressed sympathy with the UAE President on Twitter.

His Highness’ Arabic message in English translation reads, “We belong to God and to him we shall return. It is with great sadness and sorrow we mourn the loss of the mother of the nation Her Highness Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Nahyan. She led a path that was so full of generosity to her family and the people of the UAE and her homeland. May God’s mercy and peace be upon her and may she inspire in us all patience and fortitude.”

Also on Twitter, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, offered his consolation.

“We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the death of his mother Sheikha Hessa bint Mohammed Al Nahyan. We pray to Almighty Allah that her soul rests in eternal peace.”
