The San Beda College Alumni in Dubai, known as the Desert Bedans, recently organized an event to reach out to some 190 distressed overseas Filipina workers (OFWs) at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office – Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The event was held in coordination with Labor Attaché Felicitas Bay, herself a Bedan alumni as well.
Said Dr. Rex Baccara, the group’s head: “We are doing this activity to provide a break or temporary relief to our kababayans while at the same time supporting them in their basic needs.’
According to Baccara, there is much need of food especially rice in the shelter. The OFWs consume approximately two sacks of rice every day. The Bedans gave 30 sacks of rice to POLO.
